Neighbourhood Church,
joinS with other churches and organisations around the world in
in declaring a climate and ecological crisis.

We believe the earth is God’s good creation, and that He has given us the responsibility to care for it.

We acknowledge the ongoing destruction of the environment constitutes a crisis, with its devastating effects upon plant, animal, and human life.

We commit to making practical changes to the way we live to help fight climate change and to encourage others to do the same.

What we are doing at neighbourhood

✔️ Our Eco-Team

In 2021 we formed our Eco-Team, a group of individuals from our church family who are passionate about climate issues.

They have worked hard to evaluate and produce a climate emergency report and action plan for our church - this is available to read below.

✔️ Improve Carbon Footprint

We are measuring our carbon usage this year to establish a baseline and aim to reduce this year-on-year.

We are offsetting our current carbon footprint through Climate Stewards.

✔️ Worship & Teaching

At Neighbourhood, we regularly choose songs, readings and have teaching that reflects our love of God’s creation and commitment to being better climate stewards.

This occasionally includes specific Sundays to focus on climate issues, but more generally it is woven into the fabric of our Sunday gatherings and our wider church culture.

These are a few of the steps we have taken so far and we have plans for more in the years to come.

What you can do to help

1. Be Informed

Be informed about carbon usage in your life

We recommend the book ‘How Bad Are Bananas’ by Mike Berners-Lee as a great place to start learning.

2. Be INTENTIONAL

Be intentional about reducing your carbon footprint. Take steps to measure, reduce and offset your carbon usage.

For more information check out Climate Stewards →

3. Be ENGAGED

Be engaged in your local community. At church, with your friends and family, and in the local area.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.
