But that said, our logo reminds us of THREE things that kind of define who we are...
The HEART reminds us of the message that is at, excuse the pun, the heart of the Christian faith. It’s a message of love. A message of a God who is love - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - who loves people, and in love invites people to know and experience the fullness of His love. Sure, there’s lots more to it...but boil it down, strip everything else away, and it’s a message of love. That’s what we’re about. Learning about it. Living it.
The word CHURCH reminds us of who we are. The Bible says that church is about people... committed together to following Jesus. That’s why at Neighbourhood we talk about being family and community - we’re not being cheesy, we’re just expressing our commitment to living out our faith together.
Mums, dads, singles, marrieds, children, empty-nesters, teachers, designers, business types, legal types, social workers, web folk, sales executives, engineers, managers, non-managers, retired, stay-at-home parents, healthcare professionals, company owners, and more... there’s a place for you at Neighbourhood.
The word NEIGHBOURHOOD reminds us of what we’re to do - individually and collectively we are to follow Jesus right where God has placed us... in our homes, our streets, our places of work, our schools... our neighbourhoods. There’s a verse in the gospel of John that says this:
“The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighbourhood” (John 1:14, The Message version).
We love that verse because it reminds us that God himself came near in the person of Jesus... God came to us... He took on flesh and blood. And as we follow Him, we are to do the same... to ‘flesh out’ God right where He has placed us.
What we believe
As a non-denominational Christian church we align ourselves with Christians past and present who, throughout the ages, have affirmed the historic Apostles’ Creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
