Yesterday, Lent began.

An invitation to join with Christians around the world and throughout church history, and make the six-week journey again towards the cross…

…a call to prepare ourselves to remember Christ’s death…and then, His resurrection.

How will you do that?

Maybe you’ve decided to give something up?

Or read a certain section of Scripture?

Or to reflect and pray in a new way?

Me?

Well, I found myself in Matthew 3…

…and hearing John’s call afresh:

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Repent…

…yes, to consider our heart, our thoughts, our life.

…yes, to turn back afresh, if needed, to Jesus.

But, I think, an invitation too, to crave more and more of God’s Kingdom.

In considering where I am and how I’m living, John’s call is an invitation to thirst for more and more of God’s Kingdom…to passionately desire all that Jesus has for us…wants for us…and achieved at the Cross for us.

Repenting leads us to Jesus.

And His Cross.

And Jesus and His Cross are the door into His Kingdom.

And that’s where life is.

Will you make the Lenten journey?
