Our Story

NCB began in September 2007 as a small group of four Christians meeting in a home on a Sunday afternoon. Today, four years later, there are around sixty of us. We meet in homes throughout the week and have a central gathering on a Sunday. Somewhere along the way we've been given an old church building (that’s an exciting part of our story…ask us about it sometime!).

The inspiration for our name came from the Bible… John chapter 1 verse 14 (1:14) speaks of God coming to us as a human in the person of Jesus in order to rescue us. In one modern translation (The Message Version) it says, “The Word (that’s God) became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood.”

So our name reminds us of where we want to ‘be’ church and ‘do’ church – where people are… “in the neighbourhood”.
